(02-22-2006) Chicago, IL USA. Superior Graphite has announced the launch of MowerGUARD™ for the lawn care equipment market. MowerGUARD™ incorporates over 90 years of graphite manufacturing and processing expertise to produce a premium graphite, dry film coating that has been designed to work with commercial and consumer lawn care equipment.
This unique dry film lubricant is applied to the mower deck, and when allowed to dry, produces a long lasting, dry graphite film coating that is water repellant, and prevents the build up of grass clippings. Unlike other coatings marketed as products to prevent grass buildup, MowerGUARD™ is the only product available that incorporates the unique properties of graphite in a fast drying, coating.
A must for mulching mower configurations, this coating does not attract dirt, mud, sand, and most importantly, works to prevent grass clippings from sticking and clogging up the mower. An informal survey of consumers has indicated that most do not follow the recommended cleaning routine as advised in their owner’s manuals. The build-up of grass on untreated surfaces traps moisture and the process of the grass breaking down creates a very harsh environment for the metal. This will lead to corrosion, in the form of rust and will also reduce the efficiency of the mower during normal operation.
The very fine graphite powder utilized in the formulation helps to “fill-in” surface imperfections in the metal of the mower deck, creating a surface that is resistant to moisture, and thus premature corrosion. Apply MowerGUARD™ when normal maintenance is performed, this graphite coating will last the entire season under normal mowing conditions. Touch up mid-season is recommended under heavy use or sandy soil conditions which will increase the wear rate on the coating.
Superior Graphite plans to test market MowerGUARD™ in the Chicagoland area at local golf course operations for real-world test conditions throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall months of 2006.
